An Italian-style auditorium with a capacity of around 200, using a Master Industrie telescopic stand with Master One seats.

When the Centre culturel Notre-Dame-de-Grâce was renovated in 2015, the adjoining performance hall was built. The aim was to create a multifunctional venue that could accommodate a wide variety of programming.

According to Jean-Claude Savard, the venue’s technical manager, the events in the program are mainly theater, dance and music. In most cases, these shows are presented in an Italian-style configuration, but also occasionally in cabaret mode. The main advantage of having a telescopic stand is that you can configure the hall to suit your event, optimizing its use and profitability.

Once the grandstand is closed, the hall can hold up to 350 people. For example, the hall is sometimes rented out for corporate events. The final configuration of the room will vary according to the customer’s needs, and will therefore be customized. These possible transformations will generate additional income for the city.

Mr. Savard explains that transforming the hall requires two people to complete the maneuvers. It takes about 4 hours to close the stand and 2 hours to open it. According to Mr. Savard, it’s important to follow the processing protocol carefully, for safety reasons and out of respect for the equipment.

The Master Industrie grandstand with Master One seats installed at the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce cultural center is a semi-automatic type. The structure opens and closes by means of a motor under the tier. Seats are lowered and raised manually, as are the guardrails. Options are available to automate these steps. It all depends on how often the room needs to be transformed, and on the staff available to do the work. In the case of the CCNDG, the grandstand is closed about 5 or 6 times a year. In this way, the semi-automatic grandstand is ideally suited to the needs of its users.
