Since its creation in 1975, the Parc Aylmer-Whittom in Sept-Îles has been more than just a green space; it embodies local history and occupies a special place in the hearts of its citizens.
A revived heritage
A tribute to Mr. Whittom, city councillor and creator of the park, this space is, for many, an iconic, meaningful and memory-filled place.
However, the passage of time has forced certain adjustments, including the replacement of three emblematic cottages that had lost their former lustre.
A new chapter with Atmosphäre
Thanks to the innovative vision of Atmosphäre and its collaborators BC2 and Option Aménagement, the city of Sept-Îles is reconnecting with its past while taking a step into the future.
A playful, inspired design
Inspired by the park’s iconic elements, the playground features a majestic Explorer Ship, a small boat, a spring-loaded dolphin, and three charming wooden houses, all evoking the park’s iconic heritage.
Robinia: robust and environmentally friendly
The choice of Robinia wood goes beyond its robustness, embracing also its ecological character in harmony with the surrounding nature.
Atmosphäre was able to integrate these elements to create a perfect symbiosis between the park’s history and the community’s current needs.
A living park, a preserved heritage
Aylmer-Whittom Park isn’t just a playground; it’s a living space that preserves the past while weaving new memories for future generations.
Atmosphäre and the town of Sept-Îles have succeeded in reinventing this precious space, shaping a place where maritime adventure and play meet in harmony.
