Sensory Stimulation in all its forms!

The Sensory Dome by Kompan

The various senses and their stimulation are essential to human development. With knowledge of sensory stimulation having greatly evolved in recent years, the Kompan play institute created the Sensory Dome. Since 1980, this research institute has been studying children’s development and the way they perceive the world, ensuring that Kompan uses science to provide the best possible play experience for children.

By creating the Sensory Dome, Kompan has ensured that children’s senses are stimulated in the most inclusive way possible. By providing this kind of sensory stimulation, this unit generates interest and increases children’s active playtime.

The different forms of stimulation offered

The sense of touch is stimulated by all the textured sensations offered, such as dragon scales, rollers and synthetic turf membrane, but also by the ropes and smooth surfaces present in the Sensory Dome.

When it comes to the sense of sight, Turnable optic panels create unique and intriguing visual effects. These attract children, who play with them alone or in groups to understand the patterns that emerge from close observation or when the panels are rotated. They also engage in cognitive research to understand the phenomena they see.

Secondly, the dome is thoughtfully designed to offer a wide range of proprioceptive experiences, whether climbing (horizontally or vertically) up the dome or lying down against a surfer, these rounded meeting points offering a smooth, relaxing pressure over the entire body surface. All these opportunities help to improve body awareness, which is essential for children’s development.

What’s more, the vestibular system is strengthened by the response to movement offered by the Sensory Dome’s cables, as well as by the slight bounce that the net can offer its users. The surfer, with its wave-like rocking effect, also contributes to this stimulation.

Play and fun above all

All this without forgetting the importance given to motor and social development; the multiple nets and height of the dome will offer a fun physical challenge suitable for all levels. As for the Sensory Dome’s large open area and high visibility between the different parts of the Dome, this allows for increased socialization through the multiple interactions possible during play.

This play structure is truly diversified and complete, providing thrills and chills for everyone as their senses come alive in the Sensory Dome.
