In partnership with the firm BC2, Atmosphäre helped design the playground at Kateri School in Kahnawà:ke, a large-scale project designed to promote play, discovery, and inclusion. The completion of this project underscores the importance of stimulating, sustainable, and community-building public spaces that strengthen bonds within the community.
An Engaged Community
The students at Kateri School were very involved in the preliminary design of their future playground. Through a “favorite” vote, they created this stimulating, unique environment that holds great meaning for them. This energizing playground, where sliding, climbing, and using their imagination become a real adventure every day.
Custom Playground
The module was designed entirely from scratch, with a nature theme, for Kateri School. This play area features Monkey Trails structures that draw children in with their exciting and challenging rope courses. This exhilarating course helps students build self-confidence, social skills, and creativity while having fun.
The various elements of the play structure encourage children to push themselves and master new skills. They improve their coordination, agility, and vestibular system while playing in the play area. Since most of the structure’s activities are directly accessible from the ground, everyone is included in the play.
In addition, standard swings and “Cuckoo’s Nest” swings —everyone’s favorites—have been installed in the playground. They create a quieter space where students can gather in groups or swing on their own.
